Mental Health Act Implementation Project

In October 2012, the Minister for Mental Health, the Hon Mary Wooldridge MP released A new Mental Health Act for Victoria – Summary Of Proposed Reforms(Summary of proposed reforms) which outlines the government’s key reform objectives and policy intentions in relation to the new mental health legislation.

The aim of the Mental Health Act Implementation Project is to effectively prepare for and achieve a coordinated and smooth transition to the new Mental Health Act.

The Summary Of Proposed Reforms paper presents the major reforms that the government intends to incorporate into Victoria’s new mental health legislative framework.
